Posted July 3, 200223 yr comment_9776 I wear varifocal spectacles although my long range vision is quite good. I went pigeon shooting today in the rain (filed a report) and I shot without them on. Does anyone else shoot with prescription glasses and how do you cope with the rain ?
July 3, 200223 yr comment_9778 I wear perscription glasses and always need to wear a baseball type cap to keep the rain off them. I did manage to wear contact lenses for about 1 year and they were wonderfull.
July 3, 200223 yr comment_9780 I'm also a four eyes.............when it rains .........I either..........get Kev to clean them for me..............or spot a single bird, take off my glasses & then aim for the middle one...
July 4, 200223 yr comment_9775 I did have this problem....but I now shoot so meny pigeons that the heat from my smoking barrels dries the rain as soon as it falls :( .........Hmmmmmmm After a while the rain runs off leaving a set amount on the lenses and I seem to just get used to it, I find I am unable to pick birds out when they are far off without my glasses on.......getting old :=)
July 4, 200223 yr Author comment_9777 Anyone who wears prescription spectacles all the time knows that one good thing is, that you eventually forget you are wearing them. When I,m shooting and I get rain on mine, any attempts to wipe them dry only smears the glass, I then become "aware" of them. This then becomes a distraction and affects my shooting. Does anyone use any sprays or other special stuff to keep the water off ? Do they work ?
July 4, 200223 yr comment_9779 ...NO... water just sits on the like beads on a ducks back... unless they have changed the design..
July 4, 200223 yr comment_9781 I wash mine with washing up liqiuid and this stops steaming up but if they get wet then I try not to touch the lenses too much
