Posted November 3, 20231 yr comment_4072691 Hi all, I’m in the market for a 17hmr and fancy an anschutz, what’s the difference between a 1717 and the 1517? found both at a similar price and just looking for info to help me choose. cheers
November 3, 20231 yr Community Expert comment_4072692 I have had both, the 1717 has a flag safety which is awful. Go for the 1517 just as accurate.

November 4, 20231 yr Community Expert comment_4072754 Both have great build quality and superb triggers, the 1717 was heavier and like I say I didn't like the flag safety on it. Try and handle an HW66 also their build is second to none.

The 1717 uses a 54 action and the 1517 a 64 action. The 1717 was quite a bit more expensive new then the 1517, I bought mine second hand. If you don't mind the flag safety I would buy the one that looks the least used. Have a look at the 1727F on Guntrader, a lovely thing but 2k!

It’s a funny thing because I’d spend that and more on some shotguns if I could but I view my rifles purely as tools haha

So depends where your price point is I guess ... I have the 1517 bought it fully loaded with scope and decent over barrel mod and spartan bipod. And is my goto bunny tool and also for foxes when cf is not an option. Edited November 21, 20231 yr by ShootingEgg
November 21, 20231 yr comment_4077080 Be aware I think the 1517 comes with both single and 2 stage trigger. The 2 stage is LOVELY!
November 22, 20231 yr Author comment_4077089 Went with the 1717 in the end as picked up the rifle and mod from auction for £130 including fees the 1517 was going to be around £600 which was the deciding factor
