i can thinkof better things to spend £295k on than a bloody wizzed up escort........like the original range rover that has been rebuilt properly and engined up............they look very nice too....(all new)

I used to get a lift to work back in the late 70’s in a Mk1 Mexico. Great fun. 

Yes, a Mate had a bright yellow one in the early 1980's  and had it refurbished and we would take it out in the good old days and he could drive the damned thing very well. 

Never managed to own a mexico, but i had a mk1 that was tweaked a bit, unfortunatly some black ice on a bridge one night and it was like a scene from dancing on ice as me and 5 other cars spun round and round, i hit the barrier backward and the car was totalled.

The MST cars look much nicer in my opinion, and those are ludicrously expensive too…..most buying them will those wealthy enough to have large collections of cars and buying one just because they can, and them being fairly rare as built in such limited numbers. 
I’d have one if I was one of those people though!

The bog standard 1100 which most people had was a complete piece of **** from day one. And the 1300 cc job wasn’t much better. 
I drove a few of each and none of them were any good.

I never had a Mk1 escort but drove them occasionally, I was never tempted to buy one. I wouldn't mind another Mk1 Granada...

My first company car was an 1100 Mk 1.  HFM 564J. Crossply tyres and plastic seats. It didn't need an accelerator  -  a switch would have been more useful. You could run faster. 100% reliable though.

The car looks fine, but I don't see value for money. You can get better handling cars and quicker for a whole lot less.
